If you are looking to improve self-confidence you need to learn that it has so much to do with attitude aside from ability.

I've known many people who, while they lacked aptitude in a certain field, totally 'oozed' confidence! I'm not speaking about bragging about how superior they are at tennis, or singing, or public speaking - when really they're not. I'm speaking about feeling fine about not being skilled in these areas and doing them anyway!

A number of things are simply not necessary enough to fret about - but we do just the same and generate pointless stress for ourselves. They may have been told to you, before, by other people who had their very own agenda. Generally people would say things to put you down so they feel better about themselves!

They could have been your own interpretation of what somebody said. Often what we hear is just not what is meant, therefore when I say "You're not very good at sporting activities", you may hear that as a criticism or somebody saying "You're a failure!"

They could be based on a unique experience you had which prompted you to jot down that message inside your head yourself. Let's say you tried designing a bookcase once but it didn't look very good once you completed it. Therefore, in your mind you believe you're no good at woodwork and will never try again. Although you could have acknowledged that this wasn't too bad for your initial try and that you'd most likely improve with experience.

Your own attitude is the factor that will carry you to triumph, or defeat you before you even begin.

In case you don't trust you are able to do it - odds are very high that you won't. And when you believe all of the negative messages from the past, you might as well build a brick wall between you and your desired goals. (And remember, you fail 100% of the opportunities you do not even go for!)

However if you believe you could do it, when you can imagine yourself in your mind doing it, chances are incredibly strong that you will be successful!

There's a saying: "Change the way in which you look at things and the things you look at would change." (The half full - half empty glass is an example of this!)
